Study the diversity of references in Wikipedia articles
- Data basis: Use the wikiwhere tool (http://wikiwhere.west.uni-koblenz.de/) and/or the underlying code (https://github.com/mkrnr/wikiwhere) to explore where references in Wikipedia come from.
- Goal: Propose and answer research questions about the information source diversity in Wikipedia.
- Method: Analyse which articles are most diverse in terms of where references come from. Propose and conduct a case study (e.g. Greek financial crisis) or focus on global descriptive statistics. For example, which edition is most diverse in terms of references? An additional task could be to propose improvements to the algorithm for finding source countries.
- Team: depending on the focus (case study or large scale data analysis) team should consist of members with good statistical analysis skills and ability to deal with bigger data or can consist of people without programming skills that want to use the existing tool to propose and explore an interesting case.
