The Panama Papers are part of a massive leak of data concerning the business dealings of a huge number of individuals, corporations, and trusts. In sum over 320,000 entities are included over a span of forty years. Elements of the dataset include offshore entities (companies created under an off-shore jurisdiction), agents (firms that provide services at request of a client), officers (individuals who play a role in managing the offshore entity), and intermediaries (go-betweens, usually law firms, that brokers deals between service providers and clients). These components are compiled into a network, where connections indicate affiliations between individuals, companies, and corporations affiliated with parent or child companies. The scope of this project is to explore the structure of this previously clandestine network, and identify any interesting features.
